Our 90" tree spade digs a hole 90" across and 5' deep, and our 55" tree spade digs a
hole 55" across and 4' deep. Ducote's annual root-pruning schedule allows for the
tips of the roots to be cut and promotes a healthy, full root system within the soil
plug. The blades cut into the soil without disturbing the surrounding soil or
disturbing the roots within the soil plug. This allows the tree to recooperate from
transplanting much faster than planting B&B material. Overall, the transplanted
tree will resprout roots faster and grow in the new soil before a comparable
containerized tree would even get established.
